You draw plans on the computer for buildings, bridges, interiors, gardens or whole neighbourhoods.
What you do
Before anything is built, plans are needed. As a draughtsperson you create them on the computer, often in 3D. You work closely with architects, engineers and planners, calculate quantities, visit building sites and adjust plans when something changes.
Depending on your specialisation you plan houses (architecture), bridges and roads (civil engineering), interiors (interior architecture), parks and gardens (landscape architecture) or the development of towns and regions (spatial planning).

How the apprenticeship works
The apprenticeship takes four years. You work in a planning or architecture office, go to vocational school and attend industry courses.
Tip: Many offices are happy to see a small portfolio of drawings or sketches. It does not have to be perfect, it should show that you enjoy designing.
And afterwards
With the vocational baccalaureate, many draughtspeople study architecture, civil engineering or landscape architecture at a university of applied sciences. Colleges of higher education, for example in construction planning, are also a good next step.
