You cut, colour and style hair, advise your customers and make sure they feel good.
What you do
In the salon you welcome customers, listen and find out what they want. You wash, cut, colour and style hair, groom beards and give tips on hair care at home. You also plan appointments, sell products and keep the salon clean.

Tip: Bring curiosity to your taster placement and ask lots of questions. Many salons care more about how you treat customers than about what you can already do.
How the apprenticeship works
The apprenticeship takes three years. You work in the salon, go to vocational school and practise on training heads and models in industry courses. There is also a two-year way in: hairdresser (EBA).
And afterwards
After the apprenticeship you can specialise in colour, updos or men's cuts, run a salon after a professional exam or later open your own. Theatre, film and TV also need specialists for hair and make-up.
